SLYSA Names Cory Nava as Executive Director

The St. Louis Youth Soccer Association (SLYSA) has announced the appointment of Cory Nava as Executive Director, effective May 2026. Nava brings a strong background in soccer leadership and operations, having served in key roles within SLYSA for the past six years.

Nava’s connection to the game spans decades. He played at both the high school and collegiate levels, including at Marquette University, and has remained deeply involved in the sport ever since. Professionally, Nava spent six years with Saint Louis FC of the United Soccer League, where he held leadership roles focused on revenue generation and organizational growth. He has also been an active youth coach and parent within SLYSA, further strengthening his ties to the local soccer community.

“Cory has been a key part of SLYSA’s leadership and day-to-day operations since joining the organization,” said SLYSA Board President Steve Pecher. “His commitment to our league, our members, and our mission to provide opportunities for players of all levels is evident. We are confident in his ability to lead SLYSA into its next phase of growth and impact.”

As Executive Director, Nava will focus on delivering an exceptional experience for more than 1,200 teams competing across 17 facilities throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area. Under his leadership, SLYSA aims to build on its sustained growth over the past decade and further enhance its role in advancing youth soccer in the region.

“I am honored to take on the role of Executive Director and continue serving the SLYSA community,” said Nava. “Our league plays a vital role in the development of young athletes across the region, and I look forward to working alongside our clubs, coaches, and families to continue raising the standard of competition and experience for all participants.”   "Stepping into this position is a true full-circle moment for me. Having grown up playing in SLYSA, I have a deep, personal appreciation for the league. I am thrilled to now have the opportunity to make a purposeful impact on the St. Louis soccer community—supported by a truly exceptional staff that shares my commitment to excellence."

Founded in 1975, SLYSA operates competitive youth soccer leagues for boys and girls ages 6 to 19. The organization’s mission is to develop, promote, and provide high-level competition for youth soccer in the greater St. Louis area. From its beginnings with just 500 players, SLYSA has grown to serve more than 15,000 athletes representing over 1,200 teams.
