I'm perplexed & very disappointed as to why SLYSA made that decision & even moreso that apparently, we will be receiving no refund. It's incredibly disturbing that only the youngest teams get to play TEN games & the older teams ONLY PLAY 7 OR 8 GAMES, when they're paying either the same amount of money OR MORE!! It's FURTHER distressing to know that sometimes, even different divisions within the SAME AGE GROUP play MORE games than the other divisions!!!! I'd be VERY grateful to receive some kind of answer on this subject. **I'd like the website to have a page that actually explains how the amount of team fees are determined. In relation to my comment directly above this one (related to varying number of games) I'd also like to know what exactly, your policy is on the number of referees & linesmen there SHOULD BE at each game in the various age groups & divisions. It's quite perturbing that my son who played U11, First Division in the Spring 2013 season has, for the past FOUR SLYSA SEASONS, had AT THE MOST, ONE referee & maybe ONE linesman. I can count on one hand the number of games that they had TWO linesman & on quite a few occasions, ONLY had the one referee & NO linesmen. I'm sorry, but we feel as if that's JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!! Not for the amount of money each player pays per SLYSA season!!! AND, regardless of lack of game officials, we are refunded NOTHING at the end of each season, regardless of the fact that we've not received the complete service for which we've all paid!!! **Lastly, I'd like to see something on the website regarding SLYSA & / or MYSA's stance on teams & clubs RECRUITING PLAYERS DURING THE CURRENT SEASON! I'm aware that, although there HAVE been, in past years, there might not be specific rules r/t this practice at this time. Unfortunately, BOTH my sons' teams have suffered, as both have had players recruited from our teams TO other teams. The Goal Den Girls operate three teams within the LFSC organization, and this system allows for the sharing of training facilities, equipment, management and coaching staff to provide the best training and opportunities for success of all the players. LFSC Elam, LFSC Sentner (formerly Brown) and LFSC Callier are all teams that have worked together and will continue to work together. This also allows for players to play on different teams and move up and down the “teams” to assist with their development. Example: A player that plays defense on the “Red” team would be able to play midfield or striker for one of the other teams thus assisting in their confidence at a different position while helping the other teams with a player of higher quality. Players from both the “blue” and “white” team has also moved up to the red team. **How we Play:Our Goal is to play a possession style of soccer maintaining the ball, balanced with “direct” driven balls and 1v1 individual efforts. Not kick and run, however there is a time for a well-placed driven ball to assist in getting into the attack or out of the back. We play a 4-3-3, arguably the most developmental formation for youth players preparing for the modern game. This allows for outside (wingback) defenders to overlap (fly) into the attack for deep positions thus not “pigeonholing” them as defenders but also giving them the freedom of traditional wing midfielders. The formation allows for individual thinking and easy player rotation of positions during a game. Many would say: “you let the players you have select your formation, not force your formation forced upon your players,” however we take a developmental approach and playing to you player’s strengths and not exposing, or hiding their weaknesses is a more success oriented approach. Winning is important; however the development of players and the progression of the team is more important, in my opinion. About JB Marine Soccer Club The club began sponsoring soccer teams in 1978 when our chairman, George Foster, began coaching his eldest daughters’ team under the name of his business, the Jefferson Barracks Marine Service Company. J. B. Marine is a barge service company located on the Mississippi river just south of the Jefferson Barracks bridge. In 1985 the club was incorporated as a separate not-for-profit organization and has grown through the years to its present 39 teams in the St. Louis Metropolitan area. In 1991 the club won its first National Championship in the U-19 Girls’ age group. As one of the many accolades received that year, the team was invited to meet the President at the White House with the Women’s National Team, which had won it’s first World Cup Title that summer.
